another graphic

I obviously lack in creativity when it comes to coming up with post titles, how awkward.
Anyways, the following graphic was made for Eamonn (FashionnGirl.) ;
I'm putting up the slightly copyrighted version of the graphic, because there's been a massive thief/copycat on the way *hint*, oh well...

Tbh I'm not sure what to think of the shading on the doll's arms, not that it would be too dark, but it kinda lacks in contrast..? Not that I would be too lazy to touch that up, but I've had all the shading already done and the layers merged, so yeah..I still think it's okay, but what about you? +The dress/tshirt was later changed into grey, I don't have the grey copyrighted version so I'm not uploading it.

Comment as always...thanks. ;)

  2. Wow. Amazing 12/10 but not being rude or anything but i think you did a bit to much shading on the neck. Maybe its just me or maybe its just that im looking at it on my ipod. Please dont be critisied

  3. The arm shading should be a lot lighter to contrast with the background because you wouln't get those dark shadows if you were on a white background because of the lighting. I like the graphic alot :) I like a little bit of a shade towards the roots because hair sometimes comes in a little darker then the rest of the hair if its natural. Keep up the good work!

  4. This is so amazing! I'd really like to know what tool you mainly use for your hair? It's so pretty... :D

  5. @Lilyqi, I draw it out with a normal 3px brush, fill the shape with a bigger brush and sometimes I also cut around the shape with polygonal lasso...I make about 2 layers(each shadow on a seperate layer, same goes for highlights) of shadows/highlights with a 3px brush (pressure should affect opacity&size, you can set that up in Gimp under Brush dynamics, I couldnt find a way to make it work in photoshop yet...) &I crop all the shadow/highlight layers to the hair shape, after that I add lose hair (which I supposedly add too much lol) &merge everything. This may turn out really wrong if you don't have a tablet.

  6. Ahh, so you do it with a tablet, I bet you have a Wacom? That's just about what I do, except I do it with the pen tool as I'm not so used to my cheapy Trust tablet yet. And I think the loose hair strands make the graphics look a lot better, it's like, if it has loose hairs, I can immediately tell it's made by you. :]
    (Sometimes I do realistic hair with my tablet though, like the one in Graphic Vault.)

  8. I have Trust, and I know, it sucks bad. I absolutely hate it. It's horrible. What size is your Bamboo btw? And do you think it's better to do graphics in Illustrator or Photoshop? I'm using Ps Cs5 extended. You can make the pressure affect the opacity& size by clicking the two small buttons at the top part of your window on the bar with the brush options. They're like a pen with rings around it and a pen with pixel like squares under it.

  9. trust's tablets look somewhat cheap, not that they are cheap, they just look cheap if that makes sense. my bamboo's small. i have pse &gimp, and i honestly prefer gimp over photoshop. and elements doesn't have all those options i think...it's just the basics :p

  10. Ahh, I prefer Ps over Gimp. :] I don't know why, maybe I'm just too used to it. And my Trust tablet does work, but I can't draw a straight line no matter how hard I try. Kinda annoying really. But it does the job.
